VarCity

The 20-minute short 3D animation movie «VarCity - The Video» showcases some of the building blocks in the research project VarCity, in which an entire virtual 3D city was created from images alone. In this video, you'll see how a virtual 3D model of Zürich city is built, how artificial intelligence algorithms analyse lots of images to understand the city we live in, and examples of applications they bring along.

VarCity was a multi-year research project in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning. It started 5 years ago at the Computer Vision Lab of ETH Zurich and involved about 15 researchers during the last 5 years. The video will be followed by a Q&A session with some of the researchers involved in VarCity.
