What is “data” and how can knowledge be generated from it? And are there "good" and "bad" data? In this workshop you will get to know the scientific process and discuss how data can first become facts and later lead to knowledge. The topics science fiction and fake news will be discussed. Our critical thinking will be challenged by questioning the data sources as well as the quality of the data and their interpretation based on reports on current events in the world. Using well-known examples from the past and present, it will be shown where unreflected data use can lead to and how a critical handling of data and information should look like.
This Workshop at 4pm on Saturday is in English
